Common SID

Our college system has implemented a common, or universal, student ID (SID), which means that a student may register into courses at one school using an SID assigned by another school.  Within the WAOL shared ANGEL system we're seeing a few students have problems logging into ANGEL.  WAOL and Bb staff are working on a permanent fix to simplify the login experience for these students.  See the Support section below for more details.

A few points:

  •  College staff will see SIDs from outside the normal ranges assigned to their schools.  This isn't a problem and is how Common SID works in SMS - a student will use the same SID at all schools in our system.
  • Students will continue to login for online classes at your ANGEL domain, and you'll see them in your ANGEL Account Manager.
  • A very small number of students may need to login at their previous school’s ANGEL domain, if they've previously taken an ANGEL course at another school.  Please see the Support section below for more details.

Support

E-Learning staff at each school have received a list of students that may need to login from their previous school's ANGEL domain.  If you didn't receive an email then there are no Common SID login problems in your ANGEL courses.

  • ANGEL 7.4 requires a student to login at the domain that "owns" the account.  If a student has previously taken ANGEL courses at a different school, her account is likely still associated with that school.
  • For the list of accounts you've received, you may need to help a student find her correct ANGEL domain.  Please use the SID Range page below, or contact the WAOL office.
  • If a student has lost a password and is unable to use the "I forgot my password" link on the ANGEL login page, please contact the WAOL office and we'll reset it.
  • Upon request, WAOL staff can move a student account into the student's new school domain within ANGEL. This domain change must be communicated with the student so as to not interrupt her access to ANGEL.
