The Re-Hosting Project Over the next five years the Washington community and technical college system will be "re-hosting" their older administrative computer systems to a modern set of technologies. The Re-Hosting Project affects the software and hardware that supports many of the essential services for staff and students -- payroll, accounting, personnel, course scheduling, registration, cashiering, transcripting, etc. At most colleges, the technology that provides these administrative features is typically referred to as the "HP system." So, what does Re-Hosting have to do with the WashingtonOnline Virtual Campus? Colleges' HP systems currently work hand-in-hand with WAOL VC technologies. Some WAOL VC software application actually run on an HP system. Data is constantly being processed or being passed back and forth between the HP systems and WAOL VC's technologies. For example, much of the data and information posted on this web site comes from colleges HP systems. WAOL VC enrollments are managed on the HP system, the HP system provides the student data to create Blackboard accounts, and the WAOL VC web grading process passes grades back to colleges' HP systems. When the HP system is re-hosted, therefore, all of the WAOL VC technologies will also move to the new, modern computer environment. Be assured that while the computer systems are being rehosted, WAOL VC will continue to serve you and your college with the same automations that you currently use, including: the Course Submission Process, Intent to Teach Process, submission of courses and classes to the searchable Catalog and Schedule, WAOL Enrollment Management Process, WAOL grading, etc. Once re-hosted, all the administrative technologies, including WAOL VC's, will be on the same platform and much easier to enhance and maintain with the availability of modern tools.
