Time Management Tips

  • Allow enough study time:
    • For every one hour of classroom instruction you will need at least two hours of study.
    • Online courses require more study time than equivalent classroom courses.

  • Do not take time off from the course:
    • After the first week of class, the pace of online courses pick up quickly and it can be almost impossible to catch up after any significant absence from the course.

  • Allow time for getting to know your peers:
    • This interaction greatly enhances the quality of the learning experience, but it also contributes to the increased study time required in many online classes.

  • Regularly focus on your course materials:
    • You will have assignments and projects due on specific days and in specific time frames.
    • You will probably be expected to log some time in the course daily.

  • Don't start your online course late.

  • Use a large monthly calendar to plan out your study schedule. Be sure to put in due dates of assignments.

  • Schedule study periods before and after class.

  • Work on your difficult subjects when you're most alert.
