How to Participate in Chat Rooms

Although each of your online courses will have slightly different chat room systems, chat rooms basically operate in the following ways:

1. Enter the chat room using the password given to you.

2. Complete the name and e-mail information

3. Choose the appropriate chat room

4. You will have the opportunity to type your chat comments in the box or "whiteboard" at the bottom of the screen.

5. The discussion will proceed with each person typing in a response or a new topic for discussion

Each chat room site may have a different look and navigation and will have information on how to use and participate in a chat discussion.

Note: Chat rooms are generally not private. Even if the chat room is password protected, it is open to anyone who has the password.
