Citing Online References
In this module, you will
learn how to cite and reference Web sources.
To avoid plagiarism,
when you present the ideas of others, whether in paraphrase form
or by using direct quotations, you must follow the guidelines of
the discipline area in which you are writing.
As a quick guide, all
sources must be referenced by:
- Full author's name
- Full name of source
- Full name of article
if within a larger publication
- Year published
- Place of publication
- Name of publisher

- Read a written article
(magazine or book) and an electronic source on a topic or issue
that interests you.
- Write one paragraph,
in your own words, using information from the printed article
and your electronic source.
- Use the proper citation
format in the paragraph and list your full, formal references
for the 2 sources.
